QAFox ยท UNIVERSAL API TESTING

Before you upload your project

QAFox inspects your uploaded project or API definition, discovers APIs, creates smart test scenarios and data, executes approved API requests, validates responses and produces QA test results.

Important: uploaded application source code is inspected as evidence only. QAFox does not execute your uploaded source code.

๐Ÿ“ฆ Supported uploads

โœ“ ZIP project archive
โœ“ TAR / TAR.GZ / TGZ
โœ“ OpenAPI / Swagger JSON
โœ“ OpenAPI / Swagger YAML
โœ“ Postman Collection

Current project upload limit: 100 MB.

๐Ÿงฉ Supported REST sources

โœ“ OpenAPI / Swagger
โœ“ Postman
โœ“ FastAPI
โœ“ Flask
โœ“ Django / DRF
โœ“ Express.js
โœ“ NestJS
โœ“ Spring Boot
โœ“ Laravel
โœ“ ASP.NET Core

Discovery depth can vary because frameworks and projects may define routes, validation and middleware differently.

๐Ÿงช What QAFox currently tests

โœ“ API endpoint and HTTP method discovery
โœ“ Path and query parameters
โœ“ Request headers and bodies
โœ“ Request schemas and validation constraints
โœ“ Positive API scenarios
โœ“ Negative API scenarios
โœ“ Required-field scenarios
โœ“ Boundary-value scenarios
โœ“ Invalid types and enum values
โœ“ Authentication-related scenarios
โœ“ Response status assertions
โœ“ Response schema assertions
โœ“ Stack-trace and secret-leak checks
โœ“ API duration checks
โœ“ Dependency-aware workflows
โœ“ Runtime value capture
โœ“ Root-cause classification
โœ“ HTML and JSON QA reports

๐Ÿง  Smart Test Data

QAFox does not use one fixed data set for every project. Test data is created from discovered schemas, constraints and field meaning.

โœ“ email โ†’ generated email
โœ“ UUID โ†’ generated UUID
โœ“ enum โ†’ documented valid value
โœ“ numeric fields โ†’ constraint-aware values
โœ“ required fields โ†’ populated
โœ“ nested objects and arrays

Credentials and production tokens are not invented. Authentication values must come from secure test configuration.

๐Ÿ”— API workflow intelligence

QAFox can connect APIs when one API needs data returned from another.

Create Customer โ†’ Customer ID โ†’ Create Order โ†’ Order ID โ†’ Get Order

If a required dependency cannot be determined safely, QAFox should report it instead of inventing a production identifier.

๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Safe execution

โœ“ Read-only APIs can be classified as safe
โœ“ State-changing APIs require approval
โœ“ Destructive APIs are blocked by default
โœ“ TLS verification remains enabled
โœ“ Private, loopback and unsafe targets are blocked
โœ“ Secrets are masked
โœ“ Approved execution plans are snapshotted

๐Ÿ“Š Test results

After execution, QAFox can report information such as:

โœ“ APIs discovered
โœ“ Test scenarios generated
โœ“ Passed / Failed / Skipped / Error
โœ“ HTTP response status
โœ“ Execution duration
โœ“ Assertion results
โœ“ Dependency failures
โœ“ Root-cause information
โœ“ HTML report
โœ“ JSON report

โš ๏ธ Important limitations

! QAFox cannot guarantee that static source inspection will discover 100% of APIs in every possible project.
! APIs created dynamically only while an application is running may not be visible from source files.
! Custom or proprietary frameworks may have limited source-code discovery.
! Route discovery can be available even when complete validation or response-schema evidence is unavailable.
! Interactive browser authentication, external identity providers and MFA may require manual configuration.
! Destructive API operations are not automatically run.
! Current security assertions are not a replacement for full penetration testing or vulnerability scanning.
! Current performance checks measure request duration; full load, stress and endurance testing belong to the future QAFox Performance Testing module.

๐ŸŒ Protocol support

โœ“ REST APIs โ€” Supported
โ—‹ GraphQL โ€” Planned
โ—‹ gRPC โ€” Planned
โ—‹ SOAP / WSDL โ€” Planned
โ—‹ WebSocket โ€” Planned
โ—‹ AsyncAPI โ€” Planned

๐Ÿ“ For best results

Upload the complete backend API project whenever possible.

โœ“ Route/controller files
โœ“ DTOs / request-response models
โœ“ Validation definitions
โœ“ OpenAPI / Swagger when available
โœ“ Postman Collection when available
! Do not upload production secrets, private keys, passwords or credential files.

๐Ÿš€ What happens after upload?

1. Upload โ†’ 2. Discover APIs โ†’ 3. Configure โ†’ 4. Generate Tests โ†’ 5. Smart Data โ†’ 6. Dependencies โ†’ 7. Approve โ†’ 8. Execute โ†’ 9. QA Report

QAFox may mark inferred information as high confidence, medium confidence or review required. QAFox should show uncertainty instead of pretending an uncertain inference is definitely correct.
